VO:
The 2015 Flax Wall project was an idea to bring 7 great Orlando muralists together to create one masterpiece along the exterior wall of Sam Flax Art Store. The event was a great success as the wall transformed into an exceptional work of art for the city to enjoy all year long. Today we will showcase each mural on the hour for the next seven hours along with information on the artist and their methods. Here’s to supporting local art, and to the hard work, materials, and inspiration that make it possible.
Meet the artist: Tito Aguayo
With emphasis on strength of the female, Tito created this powerfully stunning work of art using Montana acrylic and airbrush golden high flow acrylic. His strong belief
in feminine strength has inspired this vibrant portrait which he dubs the ‘future of female’.
Meet the artist: Timmy Dub
While in his own words Timmy Dub designed this mural for ‘absolutely no reason whatsoever’, the modern cartoon style created solely with Montana spray paint is brilliantly executed to tell a story all it’s own. Timmy claims that his visions begin when he sees the first line on a blank surface, and his hand is simply a tool to bring it into our dimension. I think we could all agree it is a tool not easily matched.
Meet the artist: Swamburger
Cast in an urban jungle in classic Swamburger style, the theme of finding your center amidst the chaos is vocalized in a masterful work of art in this mural. Created using Montana gold, Krink markers, and folk art acrylic paints, the symbolism of brotherhood and strong emphasis on the omnipotence of love resonates in a way which unmistakably uplifts and empowers the viewer.
Meet the artist: Boy Kong
Whether by its dream-like nostalgia or the simplicity of tone, Boy Kong’s mural intentionally evokes the emotion of happiness in an extraordinarily unique and brilliantly bizarre way. This inimitable masterpiece was created using Montana spray paint, Sumi ink and acrylic paint.
Meet the artist: SKIP
As meticulous as it is reverent, SKIP’s mural of an ‘army of peace’ with confusion amidst conformity is designed to resonate a deeper truth within the artists core reason for creating. Using his signature style of hand-cut stencils and Montana black spray-paint, SKIP’S piece is yet another peek into the artistic genius that he is. Still a work in progress, catch SKIP finishing up this week at Sam Flax of Orlando.
Meet the artist: Chris Tobar
Chris Tobar was selected to be part of the Flax Wall project for his modernism and matchless simplicity in style. Based off a character in a story he created, Tobars mural is thick with narrative and invites the viewer to peer into teal eyes and wonder if the power behind those yellow finger tips. This extraordinary work of art was created using Montana gold & black, with Krink markers.
Meet the artist: Andrew Spear
No stranger to large-scale murals, Spear has outdone himself yet again with his signature style in the art of letting go. Retro meets timeless in this piece, as it is certainly one the mind might get lost in, letting go of the world aside. This masterminded piece of art was created using exterior porter paint & krink markers.

DAUGHTER
And I need a gift for Emma’s birthday, oh and I want to look at their Zentangle books and Zack wants us to get him some new socks…
DAD
Well honey they don’t have things like that, it’s just an art supply store. They sell, art supplies.
CUT TO: DAD picks up a call from MOM on the car speaker phone.
DAUGHTER (rolls eyes and mumbles)
Actually, they do.
DAD
Hello. Yea honey what’s up I’m just headed to Sam Flax for those art supplies.
CUT TO: INT. FAMILY HOME - KITCHEN.
MOM
Ok great, I meant to ask before you left, while you’re at Sam Flax will you get those new flyers printed for the shop? We need the highest quality and get the 24x36 this time ok?
DAD
Large format printing at Sam Flax? Honey I don’t think they do custom printing, they’re
an art and supply store. They sell, well art and supplies. You’re obviously confused. It happens to the best of us. I’ve got to go I’ll see you at home.
